Indian Kitchen

You are what you eat, or “Kitchen is a space that reflects the culture and economic status of a family,” goes the adage, establishing the age-old connect between cuisine and culture, pantry and people.

After all, it is only in the kitchen that elements as varied as the five senses combine with rituals and regulations, heritage and history to give insights into peoples and civilizations.

Once upon a time, the traditional Indian kitchen was sacrosanct, to be entered only after the mandatory bath as the place also housed the gods, where they were not only worshipped but offered the first helping of what was cooked, where the cooking and the eating happened at the same level.

Even todays Indian kitchen is the most happening place in our home, a place where something is always going on, it has its own character, aroma and quintessential energy that comes not only the ingredients we keep but also the warmth of mutual love, bonding and belonging of the family shares.
